My name is Kristina, I’m 34 and have had psoriasis since I was 20 years old.
I’m not a writer, my worst subject is English/Writing. So do not expect proper grammar or sentence structure for me. Spell check is my best friend.
I decided to write a blog to chronicle my experiment. Not only will it hopefully hold me more accountable, but my memory sucks sometimes. This will not be a daily food diary but I may reference what I ate that day.
I don’t think anyone but me will read this, but if you are I hope it helps you in some way.
Day 0 – July 18th, 2018 – 11:30 P.M.
Tomorrow I start my 60 day juice cleanse. I will attempt to not eat any actual food, but instead only consume vegetable and fruit juice. Trying to keep to the 80% veggie 20% fruit ratio.
I have done a juicing cleanse before but never this long. I am inspired by Joe Cross and his journey to use juice to heal is autoimmune disease. I’m hoping it will work for me. I’m hoping juicing will give my body a jolt of nothing but nutrients to clean out all the toxins that are built up in my system. My previous attempt lasted about 15 days, and I noticed a significant difference in my psoriasis outbreaks. … but can I keep it up for as long as I need to?
Currently, my psoriasis is bad. The helmet of scale on my scalp is itchy, hard, and seeps. I also have psoriasis arthritis and currently my left hip, knee, and shoulder are stiff and painful. Sleeping at night is very uncomfortable currently. I have psoriasis under my breasts that tear, and I am all around uncomfortable and agitated. My current state of mind is set on the task ahead for tomorrow, but I’m not looking forward to all things I will not be able to do socially because of this journey.
People say I’m nuts for trying this, but I have to try. Wish me luck, and good night.

Wow. This day was not a good day in overall. It started out like any other Sunday. My wonderful husband gave me a massage, and then I made an amazing mango green juice today that tasted awesome! I drank water and stayed away from almonds (because I ate them all yesterday).
I took my puppers to get her nails trimmed at Petsmart, she is always a monster for them. Then I met up with my friend Christine to walk the Shaggy Pines Dog Park. It was an all around gorgeous day and not too hot.
With the dog totally pooped from all the dog park fun, I took a nice 3 hour nap. I woke feeling refreshed and played games on my phone a little bit. Watched Sharp Objects with my husband around 9, and then the dog got skunked at 10! It was a total shit show after that. The house stinks, my purse stinks. I keep asking everyone if I smell bad. What a nightmare. I have been so diligent this summer, but my loving husband let her out to do her business and didn’t check for skunks first….. All that diligence for nothing. Thanks honey.
Today was a great day. However I was tortured. I got to swim in this amazing pool this evening. I took the dog for a walk, and then went to enjoy a great day. The torture was looking at the amazing Papa Murphy’s pizzas they were eating, my husband included. Also they were enjoying Old Fashion’s by the pool. I love drinking while in a pool. Drinking aside, the food smelled amazing of course, and Sandor kept trying me to eat some of it. I had brought juice of course but I retreated to the pool while they ate to not even tempt myself. I did so well, that when I got home I ate a lot of almonds. I finished off my bag which I’m actually glad I did. I’m going to stick with unsalted/roasted from now on. The flavored ones are too addicting.
All in all it was a good day of relaxation and some athleticism. My scalp and skin are doing about the same. Joints too.
I did weight myself as well this morning. I was down to 206.4. I am definitely going to try to stay clear of almonds with salt.
I have peed a lot today. Yet I have not had more to drink then normal. This definitely makes me think I was retaining water from the almonds. I am going to weigh myself tomorrow morning, and see the difference between Wednesday morning and Saturday. I may need to add some unsalted almonds to my bag of nuts to lower the salt. There is quite a lot of extra chili lime seasoning at the bottom that would love to meet some naked almonds I’m sure.
I have to get a referral from my doctor to see a nutritionist. She wants to do a physical and of course there are no appointments until next week. Which means getting to the nutritionist is going to take more then a week probably.
I cannot believe I am a week away from Day 30. Its kind of crazy. Time started to move a lot quicker after the two week mark.
I have been trying to stay clear of fruit smoothies and my lovely Beetology the last several days as well. I have a couple Trader Joe 100% Fruit smoothies in the fridge, but I am going to try to be more stingy with them.
I had a really productive day at work today. Which really helped my overall mood. I drank lemon water through out the day which really helps with hunger I realized. My stomach would growl, and I would take a sip of hot lemon water and then I would not feel hungry anymore. These canteen bottles really keep the beverage stay hot/warm all day!
I took the dog for a long walk tonight. I had to take notice that my psoriatic arthritis is going away. I am no longer stiff in the morning. When I walk the dog, I no longer get random nerve pain either.
I am really enjoying the brand Humm and their kombucha. I bought a couple different flavors and will try them, but the blueberry mint is spectacular.
My scalp is still a nightmare.
The stuff under my boobs is a lighter pink today, and not painful. I am still putting the topical on it about every other day.
I’m still going to look into a nutritionist tomorrow, but I feel better overall.
Well my weigh in was not what I thought it would be. I think it may be salt from my almonds. So I’m going to cut almonds completely, and weigh in on Sunday (Day 25).
I am at 209. Only lost about 1.5 pounds this week according to the scale. Which I know is normal weight loss, but not I was expecting. I was expecting at least double.
I started drinking warm water with lemon in the morning. I also did the Candida spit test this morning and I had tendrils that were coming down from the spit. Supposedly this means I may have yeast overgrowth, but its not really scientific. I may need to actually go see a nutritionist or dietitian for some real answers I guess.
Today was really tempting. I had a Girls Pint Out event that Christine and Meghan wanted to attend. I attended and brought along a TSC smoothie to Perrin Brewing Company. Their food smelled amazing. One lady got the nachos, and I almost fainted from desire. I miss beer as well, but I miss food more. I did allow myself to have almonds because I walked the dog for about 30 minutes, and I was mentally tortured yet persevered.
I’m getting very discouraged. I’m not seeing much progress at this time. My scalp is covered at the moment, and the flakes are not slowing down. I’m debating going to a nutritionist. I read that I could have a yeast overgrowth called Candida. I am going to do a spit test tomorrow morning, and I will let you know. If I do have Candida, then I need to stay away from fruits since they feed it.
I have committed to at least 30 days, and I plan on sticking with it. My joints are not stiff in the morning which is good, but I was really hoping for more skin improvement at this point. I feel like I have none.
Today was rough. I didn’t fall asleep till 1:30 last night so I was dragging all day at work. Nothing is better then having multiple co-workers ask if I feel ok during the day. Meaning, I looked like crap too. I went home after work and had a two hour nap. That felt really nice.
Then I juiced, and watched TV the rest of the night. However, I did not eat any nuts today! I am still getting rid of all the nuts from Thursday-Sunday I think. I hope its coming to an end soon.
I have about another week till I hit the half way mark. I’m glad Monday is over. I have not had any coffee either so far in the last 19 days. I was thinking about starting to drink it again last week, but I figure I’m doing fine without it, why start again.
Scalp – still gross and flaky.
Joints – feeling less stiff!
Under Boob – stagnant.
