Slow And Steady Wins The Race????


Its been so cold lately, that even Snapchat is putting people in ice cubes around here. It really is adorable to see on the map.

Looking at my weight loss over the last nineteen days. I’m not totally thrilled with 9 pounds. Then I think that equates to about half a pound a day, and I have to remind myself that good weight loss takes time.

Its been a while since I posted. I survived the holiday weekend and my husband being sick, then myself. I did eat a whole box of Mallowmars, but I then spent the next two days in the gym “earning” it. My gym participation is not every day like I hoped, but I am going about 4 times a week.

I Got Nothing Done Last Night – Except the Gym.


I went to the gym and watched a lot of TV yesterday. I ended up eating my curry, popcorn, spaghetti and 4 Oreo Thins for dinner. Thank goodness I went to the gym to cancel some of that out. My weight jumped up, but I did eat a lot.

Day 2 of Meal Prep – I Feel Prepared!!

I made my soup lunch for the week last night, then had it for dinner. I did not add the beef cuts however. I used beef broth for flavor, but I’m trying to severely limit my intake of animal protein to special occasions/treat meals.

I found some stretchy yoga-ish jeans on clearance yesterday at Sam’s club. They were in my normal size, a bit tight around my waist, but 14 is the size I was wearing comfortably about 15 pounds lighter. I like the stretchy waist and legs more for comfort while sitting at my desk all day, so I am very pleased with this $6.81 find!

I did some research on intermittent fasting. I kind of do a version of this. If I eat my dinner around 7-8ish and then don’t eat anything till lunch except my coffee, it ends up being about 16 hours between meals. I actually do this alot on weekends. I sleep in and only have coffee, then don’t eat till dinner which ends up being almost a full day without food.

Meal Prep – I Would Fail Without It

I decided I was going to cook my lunch and dinner for the week. For lunch, I was eating canned soup, and decided it would be better to avoid all that sodium and make my own soup. Last night I started with my dinner for the week however, Aloo Gobhi. I love love love Indian food, and curry of all kinds. My only regret, is that I wish I had cooked the cauliflower less. I should have run the instant pot for a minute. Luckily, the potatoes give it stronger texture. I ate a whole bowl of this yummy stuff for about 200 calories. I got full and lazy after my dinner and will work on my soup tonight. So I will just have to have my dinner for lunch, and soup for dinner! I love my instant pot so much!

Eating Out Ain’t Easy On A Diet

I ate out twice this weekend. I think I made decent choices. I probably consumed too much alcohol. Technically, it was only four drinks total between Friday and Sunday, and usually we only go out once on the weekend, so it would have only been two, if my Tony’s co-workers hadn’t called. I had lobster risotto on Friday, but barely ate 3/4 cup of it. I ordered scallops on Sunday, but it came with beef ragout. I did not know that beef ragout meant a mountain of shredded beef in a au jus type sauce. I’m still losing so I must be doing something right.

I did hard workouts on both Saturday and Sunday to make up for my eating out. Calorie in/out wise, I was about even.

Tonight is grocery shopping and meal prep for the week. Which I wanted to do last night, but was forced to go out to dinner. Oh the humanity!!

CoreLife is doing a 21 day Challenge starting on Wednesday. Of course its the night of the GPO event (Girls Pint Out). I like the idea of this challenge because it incorporates fasting days/periods. I will do further research on fasting. I feel the logic of fasting makes sense, but I need to google it for an hour to be sure. LOL

Weight loss is so slow…..

I am grateful that I am losing every day, but results are so slow. Why is it, that one week of dieting/watching what I eat and exercising seems 10 times longer then what it really is. I have only been doing this a week, and it feels like 3 weeks. My losses are consistent with healthy weight loss, but juicing made me lose 15 my first week. So 3.4 seems dismal, when in reality that is really good for a first week normal diet.

I have to remember, when I do lose most of this weight, to not let myself backslide like this again. It’s horrid to relose weight you already lost once.
